Three ghost stories enter, hopefully one audience member leaves. That’s what upcoming film Ghost Stories promises with its new trailer. “Things are not always as they seem,” a recorded voice tells our skeptical protagonist. Yeah, right.
Starring Sherlock’s Martin Freeman and The End of the F***ing World's Alex Lawther alongside a hero played by the original stage play’s Andy Nyman, the film has elements of The Conjuring's take on the supernatural alongside its anthological reference points. Nyman and Jeremy Dyson, also of the original play, direct the film with all its spookiness intact.
Watch below if you dare:
Freeman, Lawther, and Paul Whitehouse play the three storytellers/guides through the three titular stories, each looking to go further off the rails than the last. No skeptic can resist the amount of spookiness thrust upon them by these three quintessentially British men. This star power and ambition could make the film as big a smash as the play it’s based on.
Ghost Stories debuts in the U.K. on April 13, 2018, while America’s premiere date is ambiguously sometime in 2018.
