The indie horror flick The Girl With All the Gifts has been kicking around the film festival circuit for a while, and now it’s finally getting a proper release. Along with that good news, we also have a fresh trailer.
The film is set in a near-future where mankind has largely been wiped out by a virus that turns people into flesh-eating “hungries” (aka zombies). The story follows a group of children who are immune to the disease, as well as their teacher (Gemma Arterton) tasked with keeping them safe. While making their way through this zombie-filled hellscape, they run run afoul of a grizzled doctor played by Glenn Close who wants to experiment on the kids to figure out how they’re immune. After dabbling in the sci-fi genre with Guardians of the Galaxy, Close is going all in right here. She really looks to throw herself into the role, and it’s wild seeing such an A-list star in this story.
The Girl With All the Gifts will debut exclusively on DirecTV on Jan. 26, with a limited theatrical release planned for Feb. 24. The film will also hit VOD in late February. The film is based on M.R. Carey’s hit novel of the same name.
