Godzilla's standing tall on a brand new poster ... and we mean TALL

We knew the latest incarnation of Godzilla would be big, but we didn't know just how big until we saw this.

We're now less than three months away from the much-anticipated release of director Gareth Edwards' new take on the King of Monsters, and though the film's promotional machine still hasn't given us what we most crave -- full-body footage of the legendary kaiju himself in action -- the epic scope of the flick seems to get clearer with every new piece of marketing we see. The film's awesome first trailer gave us a few shadowy Godzilla glimpses, and we got full body images from other promo art, but the latest poster for the film just revealed the creature in his most badass appearance yet. Check it out.

Now, it could be that the poster is exaggerating Godzilla's size for effect, but judging by how close to the vest the Godzilla marketing team has played their looks at the monster up to this point, we doubt it. It's safe to assume that this indeed the scale that Edwards and company are going for, and it's rather breathtaking. I mean, look at it. He's twice as tall as the tallest building on the San Francisco skyline. That's a beast that will wreak some serious havoc when Godzilla roars into theaters on May 16. We certainly can't wait.

Godzilla stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, Ken Watanabe, Juliette Binoche and, apparently, ALL the pixels.
