The publisher of The Walking Dead is gearing up to launch an intriguing new comic touted as “Indiana Jones for old people,” and it’s definitely piqued our interest.
Penned by by veteran comic writer Jonathan Hickman (Marvel’s Infinity, The Manhattan Projects), with art by Ryan Bodenheim (Fear Itself), The Dying & the Dead looks to be an ambitious tale of mysteries and secrets that you almost have to see to believe. Seriously, even the official synopsis does little to really cover the gist of the pitch.
Here, just check out the synopsis below:
A murder at a wedding reveals a fifty year-old secret. At great cost, a man with a dying wife is given the opportunity to save her. A lost tribe is reborn in another time. Seemingly disparate events that force relics from the Greatest Generation to come together for one last hurrah.Brought to you by award-winning writer JONATHAN HICKMAN and fan-favorite artist RYAN BODENHEIM, THE DYING AND THE DEAD is high adventure meets end-of-life care … It’s Indiana Jones for Old People. There are no fedoras, only bedpans.
The artwork includes a smattering of covers, along with some interior art showing everything from vintage warplanes to stunning fantasy-style settings. Check it out below and let us know what you think.
The first issue of The Dying & the Dead hits comic shops on Jan. 28.
