This gorgeous short film about a lonely robot puts a (very) dark spin on Wall-E

When you’re left all alone in the world, it stands to reason things might get a little weird and lonely. So what happens when L3.0 wants someone to play with?

The short, named after the seemingly adorable little robot L3.0, finds the droid hanging out in a gorgeous abandoned city and sending out invitations to hang via some nifty paper airplanes. But you definitely won’t expect what happens when someone (or something) actually shows up to play.

Honestly, this short is just all kinds of awesome. It takes something familiar like the cute robot trope epitomized by Wall-E and turns it on its head in the most subversive way possible. It’s definitely worth the 4-minute run time investment. We’d say more, but that’d be telling.

Check it out below and let us know what you think:

Freaking creepy, right? Also, is it weird that we're wildly impressed by that level of origami?
