Grant Gustin reveals The CW's Flash will introduce alternate realities soon

The CW’s Flash series already takes a ton of cues from the comic canon, but it sounds like we might finally get our own small-screen multiverse.

While talking up tonight’s Season 1 finale, star Grant Gustin (aka Barry Allen/The Flash) revealed to TV Guide that the series might actually introduce something akin to Earth-1 and Earth-2 next season. Considering we’re barreling toward something Flashpoint-inspired, that makes sense, but it’s one heck of an ambitious move for a television show.

Here’s an excerpt from Gustin’s comments:

"What’s fun about this show is that there’s going to be multiple timelines as we move forward. I think we’re going to start showing Earth-One and Earth-Two in the near future. There will be kind of different dimensions going on."

We’ve already kind of seen an alternate reality (heck, Barry is living in one now, since he went back in time and changed things a few weeks ago), so it’s not shocking to hear they’ll follow that rabbit down the hole. But still, no show since Fringe has tried to seriously manage a legit multiverse — though we’re dying to see the Flash crew try.

Co-star Carlos Valdes (aka Cisco Ramon) teased things are about to get “a little Rubik’s Cube-y” in regards to all the twisting timelines, especially considering  time traveling spinoff Legends of Tomorrow is on the way, but we think it could be the coolest twist yet for Flash.

What do you think? Would you like to see an Earth-1, Earth-2 twist next season?
