DC Comics is attempting a massive and complicated undertaking with Rebirth, and one big change will see Dick Grayson giving up his spy career to once again start superhero-ing in the streets of Gotham.

The publisher has revealed several preview pages from Nightwing Rebirth, which looks to cap off the ongoing Grayson comic (which saw Dick fake his death and go undercover as a spy) and get Dick back in blue as NIghtwing once again. Yes, it’s great to see Nightwing back in action, but Grayson was a fantastic book delving into a very different corner of the DC universe. It’s been a breath of fresh air, putting a familiar character in a very different setting and telling a crackling fun story along the way.

As for what brings Dick back to Gotham? He’ll be taking on a new evil that threatens those he loves most, and he may be torn away from home (again) to destroy the dark force once and for all. Thankfully, Grayson writer Tim Seeley is sticking around, along with excellent new artist Yanick Paquette (Batman, Swamp Thing), so hopes are high.
