That Green Lantern TV show will probably be better than the movie

The Green Lantern movie has opened to negative reviews and a mediocre box-office take. But fans of the comic book can take heart: That big-screen adaptation isn't the last we'll see of Hal Jordan.

Green Lantern: The Animated Series should be appearing on the Cartoon Network on Sept. 5, 2011, at 8 p.m.. We have a trailer for it below.

When you look at the 30-second clip, your first thought is probably "Hey, this looks like it's just for kids." True, it's aimed at children. But if it has any of the epic struggles that include descending into insanity, the destruction of planets and betrayal from your mentors—in other words, the elements that make Green Lantern great—then it should find a loyal following of all ages.

We do have one particular nit to pick: Hal Jordan is the series' main character. We love you, Hal, but maybe other Green Lanterns, like Kyle Rayner, should get a shot at fame?
