The wait is over: Marvel's finally cast Rocket Raccoon. The furry creature, who's a prominent member of the Guardians of the Galaxy, will be voiced by Bradley Cooper (The Hangover, Limitless).

The actor was rumored to be up for the part a week ago, but now it's official, as the studio has confirmed his casting in the upcoming film.

Vin Diesel most recently signed on to voice the treelike alien Groot, and now we know who'll be keeping him company in the audio booth.

Cooper joins an intergalactic lineup that includes: Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, John C. Reilly as Rhomann Dey, Benicio Del Toro as The Collector, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser and Karen Gillan as Nebula.

Guardians of the Galaxy is directed by James Gunn and opens in theaters Aug. 1, 2014. The superhero film has already started preproduction in the U.K. Cooper was the final piece of the puzzle.

What do you think of Bradley Cooper joining the team?
