Director James Gunn has found the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy. After an exhaustive search, Chris Pratt has landed the role. The actor will play Star-Lord aka Peter Quill, the frontman of the intergalactic team. The actor's best known for his role on NBC's Parks and Recreation, as well as the films Moneyball and Zero Dark Thirty.
Oddly enough, Pratt beat out Zero Dark Thirty co-star Joel Edgerton for the part. His stiff competition also included Boardwalk Empire‘s Jack Huston, Cloud Atlas‘ Jim Sturgess, The Hobbit's Lee Pace, and Eddie Redmayne from Les Miserables. Even Zachary Levi (Chuck) and Joseph Gordon-Levitt were eyed as candidates.
Over the past few years, Pratt's shown some serious range. He's able to go from comedy to drama at the drop of a hat. For his role as a Navy SEAL in Zero Dark Thirty, he got in amazing shape. We're sure he'll do the same for Star-Lord, the half-human half-alien hero.
Guardians of the Galaxy hits theaters Aug. 1, 2014.
Do you think Pratt's the right man for the job?
