Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is still blazing across the box-office stratosphere, delighting audiences around the planet with its geeky charms and infinite rewards.

On Friday, as the funky space fantasy hurtled past the $800 million mark in global ticket sales (today at $817 million), director James Gunn shared a side-by-side video of himself joyously dancing as the CGI reference for Baby Groot's happy shuffling during the film's opening Abilisk battle scene. It was choreographed to ELO's "Mr. Blue Sky" and perfectly captures the sapling's innocent bliss. The sequence was created by Framestore, who did all of the tyke twig's portrayal in the sequel, but was tasked with refining this early dance sequence to re-introduce the infant Groot.

“Originally, Baby Groot kept dancing, but James wanted to make it more dynamic, so he came up with the idea of using a metric camera to freeze the shot and distort the environment,” said Arslan Elver, Framestore’s animation supervisor.
