ABC announced its new contestant lineup yesterday for the 18th season of Dancing With the Stars, and there’s a geeky name that stands out cape and shoulders above the rest -- Billy Dee Williams! Yes, Lando Calrissian himself will be cuttin’ the rug and waltzing into dance history when the new season launches on March 17.

With Williams’ camp campaigning for a return role in J.J. Abrams’ upcoming Star Wars: Episode 7, what better spotlight to showcase the legendary Calrissian charm and charisma than on the very TV network owned by Disney, proud new parents of the billion-buck Star Wars franchise? Coincidence? We hope not! This exciting dancing gig could give Williams just the fresh edge he needs to solidify his rightful place in the continuing space saga.

The 76-year-old Hollywood actor, painter and author, still spry and in excellent shape, will be paired with professional dancer Emma Slater. He’ll join 11 other celebrity dancers: actor and comedian Drew Carey, singer James Maslow, Wonder Years star Danica McKellar, long-distance swimmer Diana Nyad, Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes, actress Candice Cameron Bure, Paralympic snowboarder Amy Purdy, former NHL player Sean Avery, Aussie pop singer Cody Simpson and gold medal ice skating Olympians Meryl Davis and Charlie White.

Dancing With the Stars returns on Monday, March 17, on ABC.

Think Williams is up to the challenge, and will you be tuned in to watch Lando lambada?
