After nearly nine years of waiting, it's finally time to go back to Sin City.
It's been nearly a decade since Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller unleashed their first super-stylized black and white adaptation of Miller's comic-book series on the world, and though a sequel's been promised for years, we're only just getting our first glimpses of it. Now, after a long, long wait, fans of the first film finally get to return to the rain-soaked, booze-fueled world they grew to love in the first flick, and the first trailer for Frank Miller's Sin City: A Dame to Kill For almost makes it feel like we never left at all.
The trailer isn't very heavy on plot, but we do know the film will focus on the titular Sin City story, "A Dame to Kill For," along with the Sin City short "Just Another Saturday Night" from the Booze, Broads & Bullets collection, and two new original stories from Miller. We also know that plenty of familiar faces are back to join the mayhem, along with lots of new characters. It's in the reveal of all these characters that the trailer really shines.
Featuring a cast that includes Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Josh Brolin, Eva Green, Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Jaime King, Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, Juno Temple, Powers Boothe, Ray Liotta, Christopher Meloni, Jeremy Piven and many more, A Dame to Kill For is star-packed and filled with the same high-octane black-and-white visual style that so defined the first film. The only question now is: Will it live up to the first flick?
Check out the trailer below (they even worked in the title). A Dame to Kill For hits theaters on Aug. 22.
