Robert Burden LOVES action figures. He loves them a LOT. "I remember these figures as being magnificent," says the artist. "They represented power, beauty, good and evil, and they captured every aspect of my imagination." Guess that explains why he took 900 hours to paint an amazingly detailed 11-foot-tall portrait of the massive robotic defender of the universe Voltron.
Burden, whose action-figure love can also be seen in his intricate portraits of Mattel's Battle Cat from Masters of the Universe, Hasbro's Serpentor from G.I. Joe and others, documented the creation of that massive Voltron painting in a video that compresses those 900 hours into 3 1/2 minutes.
Check it out below, and if you start to drool, note that Burden is selling limited-edition prints, so his Voltron can defend your small corner of the universe, too!
