Early last month, Samuel L. Jackson revealed he was set to star in director Simon West’s remake of The Blob. However, a recent listing may have revealed that a certain Oscar-winning actress may have quietly joined the slimy horror movie.
According to Swengroup (In Fear, Donner Pass, Demonic, Spiders, Maggie, Smiley, Open Grave), actress Halle Berry will star in The Blob. Now, this isn’t an official confirmation, so take it with the appropriate dose of salt, because although they also list Simon West as director, Jackson’s name is absent from the listing.
One thing that is official-ish is that the film has apparently nabbed cinematographer Shelly Johnson (The Wolfman, Jurassic Park 3) for the remake of the classic 1958 movie starring Steve McQueen. Another remake produced 30 years later in 1988 starred Matt Dillon’s little bro, Kevin Dillon. Check out the synopsis:
A terrifying re-imagining of an enduring horror icon. Based on the 1958 sci-fi classic that starred Steve McQueen and has thrilled genre fans since.
When a band of miners uncover something hidden deep beneath the earth, they unwittingly unleash a hideous creature beyond imagination. Now the townsfolk must fight back before it destroys everything.
Now, as I said, this doesn’t mean Berry has indeed come on board The Blob, and the listing may be wrong, but it sure would be interesting to see Storm duke it out with the slimy alien monster. What do you think?
