Disney and Lucasfilm’s Han Solo standalone Star Wars movie has added a fresh face to the cast.
According to Variety, Sing Street scene-stealer Ian Kenny will be coming on board the Millennium Falcon (figuratively speaking, at least for now) for the upcoming Han Solo movie. The film set in a galaxy far, far away stars Alden Ehrenreich (Beautiful Creatures, Hail, Caesar!) in the role of everyone’s favorite space smuggler and scoundrel.
Kenny’s role is currently being kept under wraps, and details about the film are few, but we know that, like Rogue One, it takes place before A New Hope. Disney CEO Bob Iger also recently said the movie will cover Han Solo’s life between the ages of 18 and 24 and will show how he acquired his sweet ride, the Millennium Falcon, from Lando Calrissian (Donald Glover) in that game of sabacc. The anthology film will also reveal how he met his Wookiee sidekick and BFF Chewbacca, and how he got the name Han Solo in the first place … mmm … that's a bit of a shocker, don't you think? Han Solo isn't the name he was born with.
Directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The LEGO Movie) from a screenplay by father and son duo of Lawrence and Jon Kasdan, the untitled Han Solo film also stars Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Michael K. Williams and Woody Harrelson.
Filming is currently underway, with the Star Wars movie slated to open in theaters on May 25, 2018. What do you think of the addition of Ian Kenny to the cast? (P.S., Kenny is not in the cast pic below, which was taken a few weeks back.)
