The CW has just pulled its most magical casting trick yet. Harry Potter actor Tom Felton, aka Draco Malfoy, has joined the cast of The Flash as a series regular for Season 3. How cool is that?

According to TV Line, Felton will play Julian Dorn, a “fellow CSI at the Central City Police Department who suspects there’s more to Barry Allen than just his good guy reputation.” Methinks Barry (Grant Gustin) will have to watch his back, since it’s unclear as of yet whether Felton’s character will be a friend or a foe. An earlier casting breakdown had a bit more info about the character, where he was described as:

Barry’s slightly older, slightly geekier contemporary, a guy who is as smart as he is intuitive. As such, this newcomer doesn’t buy Barry’s nice guy routine and sets out to learn what he’s hiding — all while concealing some secrets of his own.

Of course, fans will know Felton from his portrayal of Harry Potter’s (Daniel Radcliffe) nemesis Draco Malfoy in all eight Harry Potter movies (2001-2011). The actor also starred in Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Risen.

This won't be the first time Felton has had a role in a TV series -- the British actor also starred in the miniseries Labyrinth (which also co-starred Captain America: Civil War’s Sebastian Stan), Murder in the First and Full Circle -- but it'll mark the first time the actor has had a substantial role in a high-profile television show.

It's been recently confirmed that Season 3 of the Arrowverse superhero series will adapt DC Comics’ huge game-changing Flashpoint storyline when the new season kicks off in the fall, with Gustin saying, “We’re definitely doing this [Flashpoint] thing our own way. … This will be its own thing.”

Tom Felton is expected to make his debut on The Flash early when Season 3 premieres on Oct. 4. Are you excited about Draco Malfoy joining the cast? Do you think he’ll end up playing for or against Team Flash?
