The first TV spot for director Morten Tyldum’s (The Imitation Game) upcoming sci-fi movie Passengers has dropped, featuring some cool snippets of new footage.
The movie stars Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence (who have crazy chemistry) as two (ahem) passengers on a spaceship bound for another part of the galaxy, and who are awakened 90 years before they’re slated to arrive at their destination. Oops!
So what can two people do when they’re stuck together day in, day out on an immense ship that’s got everything you want on board, and said two people are Star-Lord and Mystique? Well, they fall in love! But things aren’t going to run smoothly for the two lovebirds when they realize the ship and its 5,000 sleeping passengers are in grave danger.
One of my most anticipated films of the year (besides Doctor Strange, which is opening tonight, that is), Passengers was written by Jon Spaihts, who also wrote … Doctor Strange! Here’s the synopsis:
On a routine journey through space to a new home, two passengers, sleeping in suspended animation, are awakened 90 years too early when their ship malfunctions. As Jim (Chris Pratt) and Aurora (Jennifer Lawrence) face living the rest of their lives on board, with every luxury they could ever ask for, they begin to fall for each other, unable to deny their intense attraction… until they discover the ship is in grave danger. With the lives of 5000 sleeping passengers at stake, only Jim and Aurora can save them all.
Passengers will open in theaters on Dec. 21.
