John Dunsworth, an actor who was known for his roles on SYFY's Haven and cult show Trailer Park Boys, has died at the age of 71.
Born in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Dunsworth spent much of his career acting in regional theater -- but many of his best-known characters inhabited the sphere of television. He played a drunken trailer park supervisor and police officer on Trailer Park Boys, which began as a short film before continuing as an ongoing series that was later picked up by Netflix.
On SYFY's Haven, he was part of the supporting cast with his portrayal of mysterious newspaper owner Dave Teagues, who is eventually revealed to own half the commercial properties within the strange town of Haven, Maine. The series, loosely based on the Stephen King novel The Colorado Kid, aired on SYFY for a total of five seasons.
Dunsworth's daughter Sarah confirmed the news of his passing via her Twitter account, releasing a short statement on behalf of the family: "With heavy and broken hearts the family of John F. Dunsworth would like to let people know that our amazing husband, father and grandfather John Dunsworth has passed away. John left this world peacefully after a short and unexpected illness."
