Fans were left gutted when Marvel’s Agent Carter got the ax after Season 2 ended on a major cliffhanger earlier this year. Despite a loyal fan base, the ratings just weren't strong enough for the critically acclaimed show.
But ever since it was canceled by ABC and Netflix decided to pass on it, star Hayley Atwell has been hounding (her words) Marvel Studios co-president Louis D’Esposito “on a regular basis,” asking for Captain America’s best girl to get her own solo movie.
While there’s still no word about an Agent Carter movie (I’m crossing my fingers so hard they may have turned blue), Hayley Atwell is set to reprise her role of Margaret “Peggy” Carter in an upcoming animated series.
During yesterday’s Marvel Animation Panel at New York Comic Con, it was announced that Atwell will return as Peggy Carter on Disney XD’s animated series Avengers: Secret Wars. Previously known as Avengers Assemble, the series was retitled as Avengers: Ultron Revolution in Season 3 before this latest iteration was announced at NYCC.
Atwell is said to be voicing her character in an episode where the past versions of Howard Stark and Peggy Carter unite with present-day Iron Man and Captain America in order to put a stop to Marvel Comics supervillain Kang the Conqueror.
What do you think about Hayley Atwell reprising her role of Peggy Carter in animated form for Marvel’s Avengers: Secret Wars?
