Marvel’s period series Agent Carter is coming back for a second season, and star Hayley Atwell has opened up about what fans can expect.

In an interview with Den of Geek, Atwell touched on everything from retuning characters to finally finding a love interest while Captain America sits frozen in ice for a few more decades. Though Season 1 ended with Peggy finally gaining some respect in the male-dominated world of espionage, she said those themes of breaking the glass ceiling will persist in year two. She said they also plan to continue the successful theme of populating the cast with strong, female characters (yay!).

Along with news that James D’Arcy (Edwin Jarvis) and Enver Gjokaj (Agent Daniel Sousa) will officially be coming back, Atwell also let slip that Dominic Cooper (Howard Stark) will also be back in some capacity. Considering the studio is reportedly close to deals with Chad Michael Murray (Agent Jack Thompson), Bridget Regan (Dottie Underwood) and Lyndsy Fonseca (Angie Martinelli), it seems Marvel will be getting pretty much the whole band back together.

Here’s an excerpt from Atwell’s comments:

“[W]e’re establishing who she is and where her place is in the world of the S.S.R., so, to make it too romantic, I think, is too obvious, and too clichéd a choice. I think she’s got a lot more, before we start to delve into her romantic life. And I think season 2 will… I think she’ll get some action, it’s about time [laughs].

I’ve not started work on it yet, but it’s been written. I do know that, one thing they have decided, is that it’s going to be set a year later. So it’s 1947, it’s going to be set in L.A., and I keep on thinking about L.A. Confidential, that kind of film noir, which would be great.

And I think there will be a new romantic interest, um, and then I think there might also be… Well, there will be, repetition of characters. So Jarvis and Howard will be there with us again. Yeah, we can’t have a show without those guys.”

No official release date has been set, though we’d expect Agent Carter to return during the mid-season break for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s third year.
