Fear not, faithful fans of all great and gruesome deeds and destinies in the storied land of Westeros, you can now safely mark those fresh new 2016 calendars you got for Christmas with the official premiere date for the sixth season of Game of Thrones, now written in stone.  HBO has chosen April 24, 2016, for the celebrated day of the first episode of its new 10-episode season, and if anyone has access to a sufficiently working time machine we might borrow to speed up the agonizing process of waiting, please ... let's talk.

Those of us without the benefit of a temporal transportation device will have to find something else to do before spring has sprung, but besides this cemented debut date, additional word from the Television Critics Association press tour yesterday has also revealed that HBO is now in negotiations for a desired Season 7 and Season 8!!

Though author George R.R. Martin has shared the sad news that the sixth book in his A Song of Ice and Fire opus, The Winds of Winter, will not be finished anytime soon, and as HBO sails into uncharted territory past the secure plot points of the books, we still have the mystery of Jon Snow's mystical resurrection and Bran Stark's return to ponder over and anticipate until then.

How would you like a bare minimum of two more years of Game of Thrones, and what are your plans to pass the time until April arrives?
