The latest trailer for Marvel's Black Panther has dropped, giving us a look at the high-tech world of Wakanda and all the action that awaits in T’Challa's first solo outing.
We get to see a bit more of how Wakanda has remained hidden from the rest of the world, as the nation is nestled behind what appears to be a cloaking shield, which hides its skyscrapers and monorails. There's also a good bit more of Michael B. Jordan's Erik Killmonger trying to do everything in his power to destabilize the country, and a whole lot more of Andy Serkis' shady Ulysses Klaue.
But the big takeaway is the action. Director Ryan Coogler is bringing a fresh eye to the superhero spectacle, leaning into this vibrant world and what it would look like for a street chase to tear it apart. It's unlike pretty much anything Marvel has done up to this point, in the best possible way.
Here's the film's official synopsis:
Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther” follows T’Challa who, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king—and Black Panther—is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.
The cast includes Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis. It's directed by Ryan Coogler.
Black Panther opens February 16, 2018.
