The whole Who gang is in San Diego. Guess what people were asking them about!

While we are sure that there will be loads of Doctor Who news to report by the end of the SDCC weekend, right now the biggest piece of news is still the controversial 12th Doctor question.

And if you thought things were heated before, now both current Doctor Matt Smith and producer Steven Moffat have been asked. What were their answers?

At first, Smith teased, when asked who'd take the part next, saying, "Whoever it is will be the right actor … or actress. Let’s wait and see … who she is." But then, after turning the tables on the interviewer, Smith conceded that "it can be anyone. That's the great thing about the part. If Helen Mirren did it or if ... there's so many female actresses who'd be amazing." He even went so far as to say, "He's an alien. She's an alien. So it doesn't matter."

Was he being honest or diplomatic? Take a look at the video evidence and tell us. Female Doctor questions begin around the nine-minute mark.

Meanwhile, at a public Q&A, Steven Moffat was asked if there was any truth to the fact that the 12th Doctor would be played by a woman. His response was a bit more ... well? See for yourself.

This response is a fine example of why people either love Steven Moffat or love to hate him. Is he saying it won't ever happen? Is he saying it's going to happen but he can't say yet? One thing is certain, Moffat really enjoys getting a rise out of fans.
