Having played Heavenly Sword for PlayStation 3 years (and years) ago, and having really liked the game at the time (Fun Fact: Andy Serkis had a hand in the story and portrayed the villain), I’ll admit that my interest for Ninja Theory's upcoming video game titled Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice has been piqued. Even more so thanks to this latest trailer.

To be released for PC and PlayStation 4 on August 8, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice has been in the works since 2014. Instead of making a AAA game, Ninja Theory’s newest entry is half the size, and half the price ($30). It’s also going to be available as a digital release ONLY, which is a bit of a bummer for those who prefer to own a physical copy. Just as I prefer holding a book in my hands rather than reading something on a portable device, but I digress.

The game is available to pre-order on the PlayStation Store, GOG.com and Steam, and you can get a digital short comic titled Hellblade: Senua’s Song, with art by Ben Templesmith (30 Days of Night). Here's a story synopsis:

Set in the age of Vikings, and based on Celtic and Norse mythology, a Celtic warrior named Senua must embark on a personal journey through the underworld to fight for the soul of her dead lover.
