After his mustache-based Justice League shenanigans calmed down and his press work shifted towards promoting the new Mission: Impossible film, Superman actor Henry Cavill hasn’t been on most people’s radars for the newest entries in the DCEU. However, with the new Shazam! film on the horizon, there was always a connection to be made, even if it was as far-fetched as a comic book crossover.

But there seems to be evidence that these universes aren’t that far off. In fact, ever since the below picture surfaced (and its caption read and reread) back in 2016, fans have been clamoring for Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam (rumored to make a cameo in the Shazam! movie, even if he’s not the villain) and Superman to go toe to toe.

Now Cavill’s giving an update on these hopes and dreams... and it’s not discouraging. When he spoke in an interview with MTV, the Superman actor certainly seemed game for anything, and relatively abreast of the plans over at WB:

When the fight between Man of Steel and Black “The Rock” Adam came up, Cavill revealed that the plan is to, yes, eventually have the characters come face to face. “There is definitely some kind of work towards that,” Cavill said. “There’s a lot of things spinning around in the universe right now with that. Obviously if Black Adam does become a character officially, he will play him.”

However, if and/or when Superman gets his hands on Johnson's Black Adam, it’ll be second to Shazam. Cavill continued, “I’m pretty sure it’ll be a Shazam/Black Adam thing first. If it does happen, it would make sense that way. But you never know, maybe there will be a Superman movie and Shazam will come and help.”

While it all seems far down the road from now, it doesn’t sound completely speculative. Judging by Cavill's words, plans were seemingly set in motion where these DC side players will eventually link up with the main Justice League crew. What do you think about such talk?
