The first season of Fox’s Sleepy Hollow was insanely awesome (and a bit insane), and now they’re beefing up the cast for season two.
Sakina Jaffrey (House of Cards) has signed on for a major role in the new season, and will play the crazy little town’s new sheriff, Leena Reyes. E! News describes the character as “smart, forceful, highly trained and commanding,” but also with a “warm and maternal side.” The character apparently leaves a gig with the U.S. Border Patrol in Texas to return to Sleepy Hollow. Of course, anyone who’s seen the season-one finale knows why the sheriff’s seat is open.
Here’s how producer Roberto Orci describes the change in leadership:
“There's a new sheriff in town. Obviously, Irving has been discredited and now he's been taken upstate, so the Sleepy Hollow Police Department still has to be run by somebody and that person may not be as open as Irving was by the end of the season with Abbie and Crane. So somebody may be making their life very difficult.”
Along with Jaffrey, TV Line reports that Matt Barr (One Tree Hill) will play Nick Hawley, a “ruggedly handsome” bounty hunter who will be working with Ichabod and Abbie. He’s described as “having a sense of humor and a bit of swagger, but he’s also a loner whose education is masked by a rough-and-tumble demeanor.” It’s also possible he could turn into a love interest for Abbie, since he’ll be sticking around on a recurring basis.
Season two of Sleepy Hollow is slated to debut this fall, with 18 episodes on tap. What do you think of the new additions?
