The very title of The Last Jedi perhaps could've clued us into Luke Skywalker's fate by the end of the film, but for many fans, it was still a shock. After all, it's always hard to say goodbye — made all the harder by the fact that we never got to hear the final words Luke spoke after saving the Resistance by astral-projecting across the galaxy to trick Kylo Ren (Adam Driver).
But now, thanks to Marvel's comic book adaptation of The Last Jedi, fans can get some more closure. Writer Gary Whitta shared Luke's final scene, which is Whitta's favorite page and includes Luke's final words.
And what are they? "And so it ends as it began. By the light of two suns."
Whitta shared the visual via Twitter, in case you were looking for a good cry today.
Well, that's sweet. Obviously, the scene was a nice bookend to the scene in A New Hope where Luke watches the suns set on Tatooine before he even knows he's a Jedi or goes on any of the adventures we've since accompanied him on. The final words just make it all the sweeter.
