The villains of Thor: Ragnarok may have been revealed, and it also looks like Thor (Chris Hemsworth) will embark on a road trip across the Nine Realms with Bruce Banner/Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) minus one very important item.
According to Geek.com (which may have leaked the possible villain for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2), the movie’s main antagonist will be the Goddess of Death, ruler of Hel and the realm of Niffleheim, Hela.
The Marvel character has been rumored to appear in the movie for a good long while now, so this may not come as a complete surprise. As for who could play her, Mark Ruffalo seemingly confirmed that Cate Blanchett was up for the role of a Big Bad in the God of Thunder’s third solo outing.
“I saw her at the Governor’s banquet here and heard that maybe she was circling, they were talking to her about the part, so I ran up to her and I was like, ‘Please, please, please make this work!’ She’s just one of the best, and to have her play a baddie is going to be really exciting.”
But Hela won’t be the only comic-book villain to wreak havoc in Asgard. She’ll be joined in her endeavors to get Thor banished from Asgard for good by the God of Mischief himself, his brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston), now impersonating the All-Father Odin (Anthony Hopkins). Here’s what the site reports:
In Thor: Ragnarok, Hela and Loki will have set their plan well in motion by the time Thor gets wise to what’s going on. Hela ends up creating the incident to Thor’s journey in the film. According to our sources, when Thor confronts Hela, things do not go well. Not only does she banish Thor from Asgard, but she destroys Mjolnir!
Holy heck! So the God of Thunder will embark on his road trip without his trusty hammer? Interesting, but as always, this is a rumor, so take it with a pinch of salt.
Thor: Ragnarok will arrive in theaters on Nov. 3, 2017.
