By Hera! Australian photographer Mark Rogers has released a pic of Megan Gale (Mad Max: Fury Road) as Wonder Woman, giving us our first official look at what the actress would have looked like in the role of the Amazon Princess in George Miller’s aborted superhero movie Justice League: Mortal.
As some of you may already know, back in 2007 Warner Bros. was hard at work on a Justice League movie that controversially would NOT have featured current Batman Christian Bale — who’d made the role his own in Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins in 2005 — and Brandon Routh, who took flight as the Man of Steel in director Bryan Singer’s tepid Superman Returns in 2006. Instead, the movie would have starred Armie Hammer (The Man From U.N.C.L.E.) in the role of the Dark Knight and D.J. Cotrona (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) as Supes.
Rounding the cast as the members of the Justice League were Megan Gale as Wonder Woman, Santiago Cabrera as Aquaman, Hugh Keays-Byrne as Martian Manhunter, Teresa Palmer as Talia Al Ghul, Jay Baruchel as Maxwell Lord, Common as John Stewart/Green Lantern, Anton Yelchin as Wally West, Zoe Kazan as Iris West and Stephen Tobolowsky as Alfred Pennyworth.
Set to be helmed by legendary Mad Max director George Miller, the aborted Justice League: Mortal movie fell through amid the writer’s strike and financial woes, and Warner pulled the plug on the movie after being in development for a few years. Some concept art from the superhero film as well as storyboards have made their way online over the summer, offering us a tiny peek into the world Miller had envisioned. But this pic of Megan Gale? It's pretty epic. Check it out:
Not bad at all! Megan
Fox Gale certainly looked the part of Princess Diana of Themyscira, and I'm wondering what she would have been like in the role. Overall, I like the costume and the skirt, but I would have liked to see the iconic eagle emblem on her breastplate. That tiara is very cool, though. I want one.
Because it's always fun to compare and contrast, here’s a look at Gal Gadot in the role of Wonder Woman in director Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, hitting movie theaters on March 25, 2016, with Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as the Flash, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and Jeremy Irons as Alfred.
Wonder Woman will finally get her own movie on June 23, 2017. Directed by Patty Jenkins, it will star Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Nicole Kidman and Said Taghmaoui. The Justice League Part One will open a few months later, on Nov. 17.
What do you think of Megan Gale’s look as Wonder Woman in George Miller’s aborted Justice League: Mortal movie?
