The first exciting teaser trailer for the new Ghost in the Shell film is finally here! But before you anyone gets too excited, this is not the teaser trailer for DreamWork's upcoming live-action flick, which will star Avengers: Age of Ultron's Scarlett Johansson ... 'cause, you know, it's waaay too early for that.

This new teaser trailer is actually for the upcoming animated flick based on Masamune Shirow’s Ghost in the Shell manga series that'll be released in the summer of 2015, and you know what? It looks pretty darn cool.

Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie (yep -- the filmmakers apparently attended the Sharknado 2: The Second One school of titling) is directed by Kazuchika Kise, with a screenplay penned by Tow Ubukata. Cornelius will be doing the film’s soundtrack.

The upside is that the upcoming sci-fi movie will feature the voice cast from Ghost in the Shell Arise, including Maaya Sakamoto, Ikkyuu Juku, Kenichirou Matsuda, Tarusuke Shingaki, Shunsuke Sakuya, Takurou Nakakuni, Youji Ueda, Kazuya Nakai and Miyuki Sawashiro. The downside is that no character names are attached.

Have a look at the awesome teaser trailer, and prepare to get goosebumps:

Since we, sadly, still don’t speak Japanese, this is a helpful translation of the text found in the trailer:

The legendary science-fiction work that caused a revolution around the world. – Original Work – Masamune Shirow – A work in celebration of 25 years – The awakened ghost whispers… – Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie – Opens in early summer 2015.

Are you guys excited for a new chapter in the Ghost in the Shell animated movie saga?
