While at New York Comic-Con over the weekend, Bitten actress Laura Vandervoort was asked about the upcoming Supergirl TV series currently in the pipeline on CBS.

As a former Supergirl actress herself (she played Kara on The CW's Smallville), Vandervoort had some advice for the actress who will don the red boots and cape, while also expressing an interest in appearing in the upcoming superhero TV series (it was a Smallville time-honored tradition to bring back actors who appeared in former Superman shows or movies, such as Dean Cain, Margot Kidder, Helen Slater and Christopher Reeve).

Here’s what she told IGN:

“I saw a lot of Twitter comments when that was happening that people wanted me to play Supergirl, and I don’t know what their plan is for it, but I wish them well, and maybe I can show up on it at some point. Maybe they’ll have me come in as a villain or something; that would be fun.”

Asked what was the advice she could give her successor, here’s what Vandervoort had to say:

“Just make it your own. Everyone has an idea how she should be, which I was concerned about when I played her. When you find a way to relate to her and bring your own self into it, I think people appreciate it. You can’t make everything the same, so just make it your own.”
