Netflix has revealed the title and released the first promo poster for its upcoming new Voltron series.

Back in January, Netflix and DreamWorks Animation made the exciting announcement that not only would they be adapting Guillermo del Toro’s Trollhunters together, they would also bring us a new Voltron animated series which title has been revealed as Voltron: Legendary Defender.

I don't know about you guys, but I have fond memories of the first animated series that aired between 1984 and 1985 and featured a team made up of five young pilots commanding five robot lions (all of them were color-coded so you knew which pilot had which robot lion) that could then combine to form the huge robot, Voltron. I was fascinated with those robot lions and thought they looked really cool.

But enough about me. Here's the first teaser poster for the new series:

Voltron: Legendary Defender will be the first new Voltron animated series since Voltron Force aired on Nicktoons for one season back in 2011. As for details of the new Netflix/DreamWorks series, little to nothing is known as we speak other than that it'll have the same basic formula as the original: Five teenagers will fight evil to save the universe in those five robotic lions uniting to form Voltron. No news on cast or showrunners yet, but I'm sure it'll come soon.

Are you looking forward to Voltron: Legendary Defender?
