The casting race for the new Supergirl is heating up. A lot of up-and-coming actresses are fighting to play the lead. The latest to throw her hat in the ring is Australian native Claire Holt.
Holt is a veteran of The CW network. She's appeared on The Vampire Diaries and its spinoff The Originals. On both shows, she played Rebekah, the youngest sister in the Mikealson clan. The actress left The Originals during its first season, in search of bigger and better projects. Could Supergirl be one of them?
According to The Wrap, Holt recently tested for the title role in the CBS drama. Because the show is a hot commodity, the actress is keeping her options open. Holt is already set to co-star in the NBC series Aquarius, a crime drama that focuses on the rise of a young Charles Manson. Therefore, if she doesn't get the part, she still has something to fall back on.
Supergirl is being produced by Greg Berlanti, who already has Arrow and The Flash to his credit. The show will follow a 24-year-old Kara Zor-El as she finally embraces her powers and superhero destiny. The character was previously played by Laura Vandervoort on the long-running series Smallville.
Do you think Holt would make a good Supergirl?
