This article contains some spoilers for Season 1 of AMC's Preacher.

Preacher ended its first-season run with an explosive bang last night, paving the way for a bunch of new characters to make their debut in Season 2.

With main characters Jesse (Dominic Cooper), Tulip (Ruth Negga) and Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) hitting the road to find God (while the Saint of Killers is on their trail) and the town of Annville, Texas, wiped off the face of the Earth, next season will see Preacher introduce new characters including serial killer Reaver Cleaver, Jesse’s redneck family (including his nasty Cajun grandma and her bodyguard) and the villainous Herr Starr.

The character was briefly teased in the third episode, “The Possibilities,” where we see a friend of Tulip, Danni, bring some papers from a company called Grail Industries to a man dressed in a white suit with a wide-brimmed hat. And that white suit matches what Herr Starr wears in the pages of the Garth Ennis comics. Preacher executive producer and co-creator Sam Catlin told Deadline: “the figure in white, and fanboys will know who that is. They’ve already seen the character briefly.”

Herr Starr is the scarred one-eyed second-in-command and Sacred Executioner for an organization called The Grail, which controls the world’s governments and protects Jesus Christ’s bloodline. In the books, the crucifixion was a coverup and Jesus married a woman named Mary and had children. The Grail seeks absolute power, and Starr reports directly to the Allfather, while Starr also has his own plans for Jesse Custer.

With the introduction of Herr Starr, viewers will also be introduced to the men who murdered Jesse’s father: “We don’t know who killed Jesse’s father, but we’ll know more about who those two men were.”

Are you looking forward to meeting Herr Starr in Season 2 of Preacher? Who would you like to see in the role of the sadistic villain?
