An episode of Haven that was delayed in the wake of the tragic Connecticut shooting late last week has been rescheduled, along with the season finale. So when can we catch back up with Audrey Parker and the mysterious little New England town?
After 26 people, including 20 children, were killed in the tragic Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting Friday, the network decided to pre-empt the scheduled episode with a rerun of the stellar Eureka holiday special from last year. The penultimate episode to the season finale, the episode apparently included some violent scenes at a school.
Out of respect, Syfy has delayed the episode until mid-January, where it will air along with the season finale in a two-hour block. The season was originally scheduled to wrap up this week.
Here's the statement from the network:
Last Friday's 10PM episode of Haven contained scenes of fictitious violence in a high school setting and in light of the recent tragedy, we have decided to reschedule it along with the series' season three finale, originally slated to air this Friday, December 21st at 10PM. The final two episodes of season three of Haven will now air back-to-back on Thursday, January 17th from 8-10 PM (ET/PT) to maintain the integrity of the series' serialized nature. After the season finale, Haven will return at some point in 2013 with a 13-episode fourth season.
As more details came to light about the shooting heading into last weekend, networks and series across the spectrum scrambled to move and delay episodes that could be deemed insensitive. Some upcoming films, including the Tom Cruise action flick Jack Reacher, have also tweaked their marketing plans for the coming weeks.
