Brennan Bailey, 11, told SCI FI Wire that he's featured in the independent supernatural horror movie Parasomnia, but had to cover his eyes during a recent sneak-peek screening of the very adult movie. The movie is awaiting a release date sometime this year.

"I play the younger version of the main guy, Danny when they show him in a few scenes in the flashbacks, and our whole family went to a preview of the movie, but I don't think it was complete yet," said Bailey. "Our parents covered our eyes in the bad parts, because it's rated R."

The very cool idea by Masters of Horror and House on Haunted Hill director William Malone is about a woman afflicted by a "sleeping beauty syndrome" called "parasomnia," where she awakens only for short periods of time and is confused about what is her real life and what is her dream state.

A mass murderer also invades her dreams. Then, an art student and childhood friend, Danny, played by Dylan Purcell, becomes infatuated with the woman, played by Cherilyn Wilson. The film also stars Patrick Kilpatrick (the Triple-Eight Terminator on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) and Timothy Bottoms (Invaders from Mars).

Bailey said there is no specific release date on the long-awaited project. "I just wanted to see the parts that I was in, and they were OK parts," he said. "It gets pretty scary."

An early version of the movie was shown at ScreamFest last year, and Malone announced recently that Parasomnia will be shown on a one-night-only special screening by the American Cinematheque at the Egyptian Theater on March 5 as a tribute screening in honor of Polish surreal artist Zdizslaw Beksinski, who was murdered in 2005 and whose work strongly influenced Malone's movies. Malone said that a wide release date for Parasomonia has not yet been set but that he expects it to be sometime this year.

Until then, Bailey can be seen in a cameo in SCI FI Channel's Children of the Corn, with his younger brother Preston Bailey in the lead role.
