Get ready for the Marvel blockbuster/cult sitcom mashup you never knew you wanted.
The trailers we've seen so far for Marvel's Thor: The Dark World certainly play up the action and fantasy elements of the Asgardian way of life, but they also find time to focus on the famously dysfunctional relationship between Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and his (adopted) brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston). With that in mind, animated filmmakers Leigh Lahav and Tom Trager found common ground between the world of Thor and another story featuring famously dysfunctional siblings: the acclaimed cult comedy Arrested Development, which enjoyed a revival recently thanks to new episodes released on Netflix.
In Lahav and Trager's short, "Thorested Development," Thor takes the approximate role of Arrested Development protagonist Michael Bluth (played by Jason Bateman in the series), while Loki takes on many of the characteristics of Michael's often two-faced magician brother Gob (played by Will Arnett in the series). The result is a brief but fun cartoon that inserts many of Arrested Development's most famous running gags -- including chicken dances, blue handprints and a Segway scooter -- into Asgard. Check out the video above. Even if you've ever seen Arrested Development, you're likely to get a giggle or two out of it.
