Is this the future Wanda Maximoff?
A while back, rumors surfaced that Joss Whedon and the folks at Marvel Studios had a "prototype" in mind for who would play Scarlet Witch in The Avengers 2, and that protoype was Irish actress Saoirse Ronan, who's received wide acclaim for her work in films like Atonement, The Lovely Bones and Hanna, and most recently starred in the Stephen Meyer adaptation The Host. Now that Whedon has publicly discussed adding Scarlet Witch (and her brother Quicksilver) to the lineup for his sequel, fans are wondering even more about Ronan's involvement.
So what does she think? Well, while it doesn't sound like anyone has mentioned it to her in any official way (though she could just be playing that close to the vest), she definitely sounds excited about that idea.
"I have heard about it and yes, I would. Yeah, of course I would [be interested]," Ronan said. "I love Joss and I love those films, and I love his handle on them and how he portrayed these kinds of superheroes. I think it’s very different from what anyone else has done. So yeah, I’d love to be in it.”
So that settles that. Rumor has it Marvel wants her, and she wants Marvel. Can a phone call from Whedon be far behind, or has it already happened?
