Who says international film festivals are stuffy, humorless affairs reserved only for indie snobs and shoestring-budget art houses? Sony Pictures Animation is having none of it, hitting the Cannes Film Festival with an extravagant promotional blitz — and this all-new trailer — ahead of the release of Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation.

The third installment in the animated horror-comedy franchise finds overworked, overstressed Dracula (Adam Sandler) and his manic pals embarking on a literal monster cruise, only to find Dracula getting the feels for cruise ship captain Ericka van Helsing (hmmm…interesting last name there, cap’n) and leaving Mavis (Selena Gomez) to rally the gang before Drac gets in too deep.

Ericka (Kathryn Hahn) doesn’t make an appearance in the new clip, though we (and Drac) have already been formally introduced, courtesy of Sony’s official trailer in March. Set a few years following the events of Hotel Transylvania 2, HT3 sets up with Dracula privately hoping for a romantic encounter, although it’s probably a bad idea to fall for a direct descendant of the world’s most accomplished vampire slayer.

Sony went over the top promoting the movie’s at-sea theme at Cannes, according to Deadline, showing up at the festival with a flotilla of “themed boats and water skiing zombie bellhops,” along with a brew's worth of witches zipping in on a banana boat to introduce director Genndy Tartakovsky, as well as Ericka herself.

It’s all in keeping with the film’s fun vacation vibe, as well as its summertime release date. Returning to accompany Sandler, Gomez, and Hahn on HT3’s monstrous love boat will be Asher Blinkoff, Mel Brooks, Steve Buscemi, Fran Drescher, Kevin James, Keegan-Michael Key, Andy Samberg, Molly Shannon, and David Spade, as well as series newcomer Jim Gaffigan — who voices Abraham Van Helsing himself.

Unless you happen to be a vampire, now’s the time to slather on that sunscreen and get ready to hit the deck: Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation leaves port for U.S. theaters on July 13.
