Many of our people (by whom we mean wonderful, lovable, science-fiction-loving geeks) are in San Diego enjoying Comic-Con this weekend. The rest of us can take comfort in enjoying our sci-fi in Blastr's weekly highlights: the Hottest Stories and Best Comments.

Here you'll find Tron at 30, SF fun fruit, Firefly and Trek updates, and more. Also, be sure to see proof that Ron Perlman is a Hell(boy) of a guy!

Our story: 10 fascinating facts you might not know about Tron 30 years later

Your best comment: My understanding was that all of the CGI shots had to be sent out to be "developed" before they could even view them. I clearly remember seeing a "making of" special where the hubcaps on the lightcycles had the incorrect coordinates and would detach and spin off into space. It is interesting to note that years later they had same problem during "The Incredibles" where Elastigirl's tooth keep shooting out of her head for the very same reason. — MetalPause

Our story: Headed to Comic-Con? Don't ignore these 15 dire warning signs

Your best comment: I think they got #6 backwards. It should be a safe place for kids to hang out waiting for their nerdy parents. — Percy

Our story: Cool down with the Death Star + 13 more sci-fi watermelon carvings

Your best comment: This post should really be called "true nerds find ways to be nerdy even when eating fruit". — Jen Luwies

Our story: Whedon fans rejoice: New Firefly special will air on TV this Nov.

Your best comment: D@rn I was hoping for a Firefly Christmas Special like Lucas did. Whedon could write some killer songs. And the Reavers' dance number will be killer. Better yet, ice dancing. And the cast could do it drunk! — HoHoHo

Our story: Ron Perlman brings Hellboy back (and makes kid's dream comes true)

Your best comment: Yup. Mr. Perlman, you sir ARE a good man. Thank you for spending a little time with that young man. It doesn't take a whole lot of effort for one human to make another human feel good, and you've managed to do just that. I think if you've touched a lot of hearts today...not just the boy's. Thank you. I'll admit my throat has a little lump in it, and my eyes are a little wet around the edges. You're a class act sir. — Justin

Our story: 12 rare behind-the-scenes pics from the original Total Recall

Your best comment: A true underrated sci fi classic. Kids are still seeing this one. I can make a Kuato reference with my class and they get it! Then I told them there parents should not let them see an R rated film, but then we talk about how cool it is. Among other classics. — Methos

Our story: Set pics reveal that, despite denials, [REDACTED] is back on Who

Your best comment: So if set earlier in their personal timeline the, from a strictly nonlinear sense, they're not back. They were actually back in their first appearance. Wibbly wobbly timey wimey. — The Doctor

Our story: Here's why you'll probably never see Nathan Fillion as an Avenger

Your best comment: This is what I think they should do, especially as I love Castle so much. Have Rick Castle get invited to the set of Avengers 2 by (hopefully) Joss Whedon playing himself as a fan of Castle on Castle; THEN have him have a Cameo in Avengers 2 as Rick Castle! :) — Alex

Our story: 8 stunning posters you're gonna wanna buy at Star Wars Celebration VI

Your best comment: ... Vision returns at the right time! VA VA VOOOM!! — bolt

Our story: Karl Urban accidentally ID's Benedict Cumberbatch's Trek 2 villain

Your best comment: Can we imagine a major movie villain named GARY? Really??~! — Michael

Our story: So what's the woman banned from Comic-Con last year wearing now?

Your best comment: Big thumbs up for Raptor Jesus. He who was fossilized for your sins. — Hobo knife

Our story: The Doctor's dare + 17 more memorable speeches from sci-fi TV

Your best comment: Gotta go with Xander in the Buffy episode Potential.

I saw what you did last night. You thought you were all special. Miss Sunnydale 2003. And the minute you found out you weren't, you handed the crown to Amanda without a moment's pause. You gave her your power. They'll never know how tough it is, Dawnie, to be the one who isn't chosen. To live so near to the spotlight and never step in it. But I know. I see more than anybody realizes because nobody's watching me. I saw you last night. I see you working here today. You're not special. You're extraordinary. — Yve
