If you were on the Internet last night, there's a good chance you couldn't escape talk of Batman, even if you don't care about Batman at all.

Warner Bros.' announcement that Ben Affleck will be the latest big-screen incarnation of the Dark Knight in Zack Snyder's sequel to Man of Steel set off a Sharknado-level frenzy across the Web. Fans everywhere chimed in to applaud, bemoan or simply mock the news, the hashtag #Batfleck was coined, and countless new Batman/Affleck-centric memes were generated. It seemed like everyone on Twitter was in on the discussion, including many of our favorite genre-based celebrities from film, television, comics and beyond.
