Adam Sandler's out to save Halloween in Hubie Halloween's first trailer

By Jacob Oller
Hubie Halloween

Perhaps Adam Sandler's time voicing Dracula in the Hotel Transylvania series rubbed off on him, because his next movie for Netflix is all about a Halloween obsessive. Directed by Sandler's Little Nicky helmer Steven Brill and co-written by Sandler and Tim Herlihy, Hubie Halloween sees Hubie Dubois (Sandler) trying to keep the spooky holiday safe every year in his hometown of Salem, Massachusetts. And, with the year going the way it has been, this might be the most Halloween-y thing fans get to experience... and at least it'll be from the comfort of their couches.

The boy who cried "horror trope," Hubie is always trying to keep Salem on its toes while becoming a punchline to the star-studded townsfolk. But what if it was all real? What if Hubie pulled a Paul Blart and was the only one who could save Halloween? Now, in its first trailer, fans can see how strange Hubie is and how scary his Halloween really is... with plenty of dumb jokes along the way, of course.

Take a look:

A mysterious SOMETHING is certainly snagging victims in a Paranormal Activity-esque, fly-back-into-the-darkness way. Maybe Hubie wasn't wrong, and he was just weird. Good luck convincing the cops (Kevin James, Kenan Thompson) that there are supernatural happenings, though. With plenty of horror references, including to Scream and ItHubie Halloween looks to be the orange-and-black version of a ridiculous Sandler man-boy comedy fans never knew they wanted.

And what's the deal with that grappling hook thermos? Hubie's got moves. The film stars many of Sander's frequent guest stars, including Julie Bowen, Ray Liotta, Noah Schnapp, Steve Buscemi, Rob Schneider, June Squibb, Shaquille O’Neal, Michael Chiklis, Tim Meadows, Karan Brar, George Wallace, Paris Berelc, China Anne McClain, and Maya Rudolph.

Hubie Halloween hits Netflix on Oct. 7.
