Well, Hugh Jackman has seen Deadpool 2, and it appears to have won him over, much to his dismay. The actor behind Wolverine took to social media to admit — reluctantly — that he loved the Deadpool sequel.
In a tongue-in-cheek video the actor posted on both Twitter and Instagram, Jackman, looking like he’s ready to throw up in his mouth, says: “Okay. All right. I’m going to say this once and then delete it. Really quickly: Deadpool 2 is a work of genius. It is epic. It is…dammit. Can't believe I said that.”
Jackman posted a note along with the video explaining why he decided not to delete the video: to plug his charitable company, Laughing Man Coffee. He is, after all, wearing a shirt with the company logo in the video. “Wait! On second thought ... I do love my @laughingmancoffee (subtle and shameless promo) T so I’ll leave it,” wrote Jackman. “See how I did that @vancityreynolds ? @deadpoolmovie #May18”
This is all part and parcel of Jackman and Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds delightfully ribbing each other since they became pals when working together on X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009. In fact, just yesterday, in response to Reynolds pulling for a Deadpool and Wolverine movie, Jackman appeared on Good Morning America to jokingly tell Reynolds not to seem so needy.
It should also be noted that Reynolds has since retweeted Jackman’s “glowing” review.
Deadpool 2 hits theaters May 18.
