Hulu’s upcoming TV adaptation of Eisner Award-winner Joe Hill (son of Stephen King) and Gabriel Rodriguez’s IDW comic book Locke & Key has nabbed Danny Glover and round out the cast for the three Locke kids.

The pilot hailing from executive producer and showrunner Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel) will be written by Hill (Horns, NOS4A2) who also acts as executive producer, with IT movie helmer Andy Muschietti (who is replacing Doctor Strange's Scott Derrickson) sitting in the director’s chair.

Relative newcomer Jack Mulhern has been cast in the role of Tyler Locke, the eldest son of Rendell and Nina Locke (The Conjuring 2’s Frances O’Connor) who’s described as very protective of his siblings, while IT’s Megan Charpentier will play Kinsey Locke, the “transformational daughter” of the family. Charpentier isn’t the only of Andy Muschietti’s young IT stars to join Locke & Key: Jackson Robert Scott will play Bode Locke, the youngest son who’s particularly attuned (and vulnerable) to the supernatural powers of Keyhouse.

As for Danny Glover, the Predator 2, Lethal Weapon, and Saw alum has come on board the pilot in the role of Joe Ridgeway, an eccentric English Teacher at Matheson Academy who befriends Nina and becomes a mentor to the Locke kids. Glover, Mulhern, Charpentier and Scott join a cast that also includes Nate Corddry (The Circle, Mom) as the kids’ uncle, Duncan Locke, and O'Connor.

Locke & Key follows the story of a family who moves to their ancestral home (Keyhouse) in Maine following the horrific murder of their father (that'd be Rendell). The  kids not only soon discover that the house has magical keys giving them various powers and abilities, but they also find a gateway leading to a demonic dimension. Of course, there’s a big bad demon that wants those keys and will stop at nothing to get them.

What do you think of the casting news for Hulu’s Locke & Key pilot so far? Are you excited about Danny Glover joining in the supernatural fun?
