Season 3 of Humans, the Channel 4/AMC artificial-intelligence drama, returns to our shores tomorrow night on AMC. The intense series from showrunners Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley stars Gemma Chan (Minn-Erva in the upcoming Captain Marvel), Katherine Parkinson (The IT Crowd), and Mark Bonnar (Doctor Who), among others.
The series presents a world where anthropomorphic robots called "synths" live alongside humans, and explores the sociological and cultural ramifications of their impact on society, including what happens when a large faction of them become sentient.
In fact, Season 3 starts with a one-year time jump looking at the repercussions to society after a huge number of humans and synths die in the aftermath of a consciousness code distribution. Now non-sentient synths have orange eyes for easy identification, while sentient synths with their green eyes are contained to a separate community. They want their human rights instituted, and their patience is wearing thin.
In our exclusive clip, Anita/Mia (Chan) and Laura Hawkins (Parkinson) meet in secret to discuss the bureaucratic impasse facing the sentient synths.
Humans returns to AMC June 5 at 10 p.m. ET. What are you most looking forward to seeing in the upcoming season?
