You’ll probably be happy to volunteer as tribute in order to be a part of Lionsgate’s Times Square indoor entertainment center, setting to take hold in midtown Manhattan sometime in 2019. Plans for the center have been announced by Madrid-based Parques Reunidos, a Lionsgate strategic partner and an international operator of amusement parks, water parks, zoos, and other themed, family-oriented hubs of entertainment.

In that vein, the Times Square location will include a number of attractions modeled after Lionsgate properties, such as a The Hunger Games flying simulator and eating establishments modeled after Peeta’s Bakery and The Capitol Confectionery. A Divergent-inspired obstacle course is also in the works, as is a Mad Men-themed restaurant, a John Wick: Chapter Two shoot-'em-up ride, and the debut Lionsgate Studio Store, where customers can buy merchandise from these Lionsgate properties and more.

“We’re delighted to kick off our partnership with Parques Reunidos in midtown Manhattan, and we look forward to extending our alliance to other major U.S. and European cities as we continue to grow our location-based entertainment business around the world,” said Lionsgate Senior Vice President of Global Live and Location Based Entertainment Jenefer Brown. “Lionsgate Entertainment City celebrates so many of our greatest film and television properties and provides their fans with a unique immersive experience featuring state-of-the-art technology right in the heart of the city.”

And things don’t stop with New York or even North America. Lionsgate plans to build outdoor and indoor theme parks in China, South Korea, and Dubai. In fact, Parques Reunidos CEO Fernando Eiora says that he hopes to develop 20 more of these centers over the coming years.

“We are very excited to collaborate with Lionsgate in this new project, which is a big milestone for our strategy to develop Indoor Entertainment Centers (IECs) in shopping malls and landmark buildings," he said. "Lionsgate Entertainment City will be our sixth IEC, following the five we announced in 2016 which are underway in Europe."
