Wolverine was dead, then he got better. It only took a few years, and now the original Wolverine can take his place alongside Old Man Logan; the All-New Wolverine (X-23); his son, Daken; and his son from an alternate universe, Jimmy Hudson. But first, his friends have to find him.
Writer Jim Zub and artist Thony Silas are tackling one of the Hunt for Wolverine miniseries with The Mystery in Madripoor. Way back in the day, Wolverine used to subtly disguise himself in Madripoor by wearing an eyepatch and calling himself Patch. Some very, very gullible people were fooled, because comics. Suffice to say, he’s got a bit of a reputation there.
In our exclusive preview from Hunt for Wolverine: The Mystery in Madripoor #1, Psylocke has a flashback to a classic X-Men era when she and Wolverine were living in Madripoor. Apparently their training sessions were pretty intense!
Psylocke has actually been dead at least once herself, so she shouldn’t be too shocked that Wolverine wasn’t held back by a little case of death. It’s practically an X-Men tradition at this point. You can’t graduate from the school until you’ve died at least twice!
Because Wolverine has so rudely withheld the news of his resurrection from his friends, they’ve naturally assumed that someone stole his body from its hiding place. Now, Psylocke, Storm, Domino, Kitty Pryde, Jubilee, and Rogue are on their way to Madripoor to confront the man they believe to be their top suspect: Magneto.
Will it be that simple? Of course not. There’s something dark happening in Madripoor that will draw Wolverine’s closest friends into a mystery that will only lead to mayhem and death.
Hunt for Wolverine: The Mystery in Madripoor #1 will be released on Wednesday, May 23.
