I Kill Giants, the critically-acclaimed Image Comics series from Joe Kelly and J. M. Ken Niimura back in 2008, has a film adaptation that premiered last September at Toronto International Film Festival. Now, it’s finally got a trailer out for the general public.
Both the film and series revolve around young Barbara Thorson (Madison Wolfe), who sees giants everywhere as she dives deeper and deeper into a fantasy world many of us imagined, but few embraced as she does. She sees omens of a dark, fantastic future coming her way, but her friend (Sydney Wade), sister (Imogen Poots), and school counselor (Zoe Saldana) all struggle to understand how seriously to take her.
Written by Kelly and directed by Danish filmmaker Anders Walter in his feature debut (after a number of short films, one of which won an Oscar), the film's unreliable bit of mysterious storytelling looks to capture childhood magic with a number of dark themes and a refreshingly female cast.
I Kill Giants opens in theaters, On Demand, and Digital HD on Mar. 23. Check out the trailer, then let us know if you'll be watching.
