There are reality shows, and then there are Idris Elba reality shows.

He’s already grappled with everyone from Capt. Kirk to Kaiju, and now the mighty Idris Elba is taking the next step on his journey of badas*ery — becoming a real-life kickboxer.

Deadline reports the immortal 43-year-old actor has signed on to star in a new limited series called Idris Elba: Fighter, which will air on the Discovery Channel. The show will, you guessed it, chronicle Elba’s actual quest to become a legitimate kickboxer. Apparently not content to be one of the coolest people on the planet and everyone’s fan pick to be the next James Bond/Doctor Who/Sexiest Man Alive/etc., Elba said he’s also always dreamed of being able to kick even more butt in real life, in addition to the ample amounts of butt he already kicks on the big screen:

“It has been a lifelong ambition of mine to fight professionally. Entering the ring to further test myself as a human being is a challenge I have been looking to take on for quite some time.”

The series promises to focus on the man behind the actor, as Elba pushes himself to the limits (assuming Idris Elba has limits, that’s TBD) to turn his body into an actual fighting machine. To get him there, Elba will be trained by former world champions, trainers and coaches. The series will also feature a bit of globe-trotting (Asgard-set episode still unconfirmed), as Elba incorporates different fighting methods into his regimen.

The actor is already somewhat familiar with the sport, having dabbled with kickboxing in his 20s (because of course, he’s Idris Freaking Elba).

Fighter is tentatively set to air in early 2017.
